Akbar’s entire kingdom continuously gets infested by insects and the entire population of the empire is forced to suffer the wrath of the nature. Akbar orders his men to burn the insects to death in order to ensure the safety of his kingdom. Meanwhile, Salim is upset with Haider that proper help is not reaching the people. Just then, Haider sees Anarkali trying to meet Salim and enquires about her problem. Stay tuned to know if Haider succeeds in creating differences between Anarkali and Saleem. The portrayal of ethnic Rajput people in the movie was criticised by members of the Rajput community as misleading, politically motivated historical revisionism that minimised Rajput history.

The show also highlights on how Mughal emperor Jalal ud-din Muhammad acquires the title of Akbar from the people. Akbar explains to everybody that he is already aware of Atifa’s intentions, and goes on to explain his plan to get the truth from Atifa. He explains as to how he has convinced Tansen to not leave Agra and how it is Adgah, who understood that Akbar has been acting all this while. Akbar seems very hurt as he did not want Mahamanga to be the one behind this heinous plot. Akbar later speaks to his begums and his mother, and asks them for forgiveness. Jodha gets emotional, and later Akbar speaks to her privately and explains that whatever he had done is for her safety and the safety of her child.

Jodha goes to Ruqaya chamber and gets shocked when Ruqaya asks her to massage her legs. Akbar orders Jodha to not do any such thing and decides luke russert new job to speak to Rukaiyaa about it. But, Jodha stops him and says that since Ruqaya is pregnant she is willing to take care of her needs.

Further shooting took place at Sambhar Lake Town, and the forts of Amber, Amer and Agra. The scene where Akbar prays to the Islamic scholar Moinuddin Chishti for a successful conquest of India was filmed at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah. Akbar returns and travels through the common folk in disguise to understand the problems of his people better. That is when he realises that the citizens are not happy with the Mughal rule because of pilgrim taxes so he lifts it. Then Akbar controls the dissents among the Hindus and Muslims by announcing that every religion has its rights in his empire. Then all the citizens become happy with Akbar and start celebrating in a song when an assassin sent by Sharifuddin Hussain shoots a poison arrow at Akbar and commits suicide.

Rahman scored the prewritten lyrics by Javed Akhtar, except for the songs “Khwaja Mere Khwaja” and “Azeem-O-Shaan Shahenshah”. The former was written by Kashif while the latter was by Javed Akthar himself. The music was released on 9 January 2008 and the CDs were out by 18 January.

The royal journey towards Sikhri comes to a halt when the Mughal soldiers stop the troop and order them to give them money if they want to continue their journey. Jalal is surprised with the disrespectful behaviour of his soldiers, but agrees to go to the prison as ordered by the soldiers. Jalal was not at all satisfied by the behaviour of his soldiers towards the common man and he also comes to know that the rule made by him is causing problems for his common people. Jalal came to know the truth regarding his son’s death through his helper and decided to prove it. Rahim then goes to meet Jodha and informed her that Rahim had told him the truth. Mahamanga argues with Jalal’s mother that they can’t afford to give Ratanpur Kottai to groom’s family and that Jalal has decided to leave Aamer the next morning.

Nikitin Dheer was selected to play Sharifuddin Hussain, the rebellious brother-in-law of Akbar, after impressing Gowariker during the auditions. Kulbhushan Kharbanda portrayed Raja Bharmal while Suhasini Mulay was cast as Jodhabai’s mother, Rani Padmavati. Actress Abir Abrar, niece of yesteryear actress Kumkum, was selected to play Bakshi Banu Begum, Akbar’s sister and Hussain’s wife.

Meanwhile Jalal enquires about the condition of Jodha who drinks the poison herself in order to save him. At that time, Ruqaya returns to the kingdom along with Adgah Khan and his army and tells everything about what she did to Benaseer. Both Adam Khan and Jalal starts enjoying the victory which Adam Khan provided for Jalal and Mughal emperor.

The battle scene featuring Roshan and Ulhas Barve, who plays the King of Mankeshwar, Chittorgarh district, was filmed in June 2007 at Jaipur. Due to the amount of money spent on the costumes and sets, the budget of the film, which was initially ₹370 million, increased to ₹400 million. The cannons were made of carbon fibre with iron inserted on the inner portions to make sure the cannonballs were fired smoothly. The swords were initially made of both wood and fibre but were later made of lightweight carbon fibre due to the actors not being able to manoeuvre them easily. All of the stunt sequences were rehearsed every day from 3 am to 7 am before they were filmed.
